UNIFORM MAINTENANCE

Words in RED are links.

The CATOS for the Cadet Uniform is posted online, in the form of PDF files. This is the Uniform CATOS link. It will be 55-04 at the bottom of the Page. Select AIR CADET DRESS INSTRUCTIONS and ANNEX A -NUMBERED ORDER OF DRESS to Select the PDF files for how to do your uniform.

To Help All Cadets with their uniform I am posting links to various videos on the website on how to maintain your uniform. These videos are for educational purposes only. Most of the videos are from embily07890 who, it sounds like, is a British Air Cadet, though most of the information she gives is applicable to our uniforms.

How to Polish your Shoes this video is applicable to the new Cadet Boots, not parade shoes that were once issue. Note: Kiwi is the standard polish that Cadets use, though it is not the OFFICIAL polish. Please polish your shoes once a week whether they need them or not.

How to Iron Your Light Blue Shirt this is for your shirt that you would wear for summer dress and under your tunic. Your Rank Flashes go on this article of clothing.

How to Iron Your Pants and polish your brass buckle. Note: it is good to put a cloth between the actual pant and the iron to prevent the leg from becoming 'shiny'.

How to Mold Your Beret this is applicable for those who purchase a Beret, though this article of clothing is used mainly for Cadet Field Excercises. I have not seen it in any of our CATOS.

How to Tie your Tie WINDSOR again for Windsor Knot. there is another knot known as the "four in hand Knot" I am more akin to the Windsor. Then End of your tie should be touching your belt.

The above image is how a Uniform is inspected and marked.

Before you come to Cadets on a parade night, or for any parade or event where the uniform is worn, go through this checklist. It will help you.

Note, when you click on the image it becomes enlarged. When you click on the "SHOW ORIGINAL" link on the right hand corner of the enlarged image, it enlarges it once more.
